When does one make the leap from the microcosm to the macrocosm? Why does the microcosm suffer as a result of the inconsistencies and disagreements that take place at the macro level?
We are always taught to see the bigger picture, to look at the overall view and think about the future. In doing so we forget something very important. We forget the smallest unit of society- the individual, the family and many relationships that these harbour. It is these units that end up being the casualties of something that is far beyond their reach and that is the painful reality of war, its impact on the now, its impact on the psychology of its many victims and their families. The trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, bereavement, loss even impostor syndrome makes the human condition almost unbearable.
So my question again is when do we make that leap from the microcosm to the macrocosm?
When do we decide that it is okay for innocent lives to be lost?
